Atari 2600 Games List | The Best Atari 2600 Games

So you have decided to start an Atari 2600 collection have you? well congratulations you have not only decided to collect for one great system but you have picked a system that is not too hard to collect for. Of course like any system there are a few games out there that you will be required to remortgage your house in order to afford. But for the most part Atari 2600 games were really mass produced so many of the very popular titles can be found on ebay or other similar sites for a reasonable price.
Atari 2600 sold like crazy so it is not unusual to find decent Atari 2600 games at places like yard sales, 2nd hand shops and other places that sell random used goods. The Atari 2600 no doubt had some awesome games, but one of the down sides to the system is the amount of absolute garbage that was made for it. A huge positive, however, is that most of the great titles are quite easily available and will not break the bank.

The huge game library available for the Atari 2600 can make it a tough system to get a complete collection for. Same goes if you are one of these collectors who like there games to be complete, then it can be a bit of a challenge due to Atari 2600 games being in cardboard boxes.
In all Atari 2600 is a great system to collect for it is relatively easy to get a good collection and not to hard on the wallet either.

Here is my own personal selection of five good (in my opinion) games that wont break the bank to get you started.

Solaris- This is a great ahead of its time shooter that can be picked up really cheap, even on eBay.
Jungle Hunt- I spent a ton of time with this game as a kid, and this action packed platform style game hold up well today.

Empire Strikes Back- For a early movie tie in this is actually a whole lot of fun, quite simple stuff but really addicting.

The Smurfs- For its time this was quite amazing a great platform game that you could actually finish instead of just getting a high score.

Kangaroo- This is one tough game that in many ways is quite similar to the original Donkey Kong. While its tough it is still a great deal of fun.
